At the Skuados art school, children of the district learn the basics of music, choreography and art, and acquire skills in artistic activity, social and stage expression. Artistic practice is considered particularly important - it is a concert-exhibition activity, during which national and world artistic creations are disseminated to the residents of the district. The art school is a connecting link between district general education schools and cultural institutions in the field of artistic expression.

in 1966 young parents of the city of Skuodas (initiator - Mrs. Marta Monkevičienė) appealed to the then authorities of the Skuodas district, asking them to establish a children's music school in Skuodas. The townspeople's request was granted and the first graders invited children to learn to play instruments in the Chodkevičiai Manor (now the Skudos Museum). Facts:

in 1966 October 15 the establishment of the Skuodas Music School in the estate of J. Chodkevičius was approved; in 1989 the music department is opened in the premises of the Ylakii secondary school (now the gymnasium); in 1991 The art school is moving to new premises in Gedimina st. 4; 1991 the Department of Choreography is established, and the school is renamed "School of Art"; in 1997 the school is further expanded - the Art Department is established; in 2002 a department is opened in the premises of the Mosėdis secondary school (now the gymnasium).
